Marching Band 2009

The board and the general assembly approved the budget for the 2009 marching season.  The total dues for next season will be $650.00/student.  Below you will find a link for payment slips. Please complete and submit these slips when making your payments.  This will ensure that your payment is credited to your student account properly. 

This years payment schedule is:

April 27th - $220.00 - If your child rents a school instrument then your first payment will be $245.00
May 26th - $220.00
June 29th - $210.00

There are two major changes to the budget this year.  The first one is we changed our location for band camp.  We will be going to the North Georgia Baptist Conference Center in Toccoa, Ga.  This changed reduced the budget by $15.00/student.  Here is the link to the conference center:  North Georgia Baptist Center

The second change is the transportation to and from band camp.  The budget includes a charter bus ride to the conference center (one way).  Parents can arrange any of the following ways for their child to get home:

A - Parents can pick up their child on Friday, July 31st.  Mr. Owens and Mr. Neidhardt will arrange for the band to perform for the parents before they depart for their journey back home.  Please see the attached PDF file with directions to the conference center.

B - Parents that are not able to pick up their child can arrange for another band parent/guardian to bring their child home.  A permission slip must be signed by you stating that you give permission for your child to ride home with someone other then yourself.

C - School Buses can/will be arranged for students were option A or B will not work.  There will be an additional fee which will be determined later once we find out how many students will need to ride the school bus back to East Coweta High School.

We realize this is a little different this year but we did this in order to reduce the band fees.  We also realize that not everyone will be able to arrange their schedule in order to pick up their child but we believe there will be parents that will be available to take kids home and if not we still have the school bus.   Please don't panic we will not leave anyone behind, including our chaperones.  :-)

Mr. Owens and Mr. Neidhardt have been announcing in class on how this years drill spots will be assigned.  We know that information relayed to the students does not always make it home so this is how the drill spots will be determined this year (Please note this includes the guard as well as band members):

  • All past dues and the first two payments (April/May) must be paid before May 31st, 2009 in order for your child to have a drill spot in this year's performance. Students that are not current with their dues will not have a drill spot this year.
  • If you do not have any outstanding dues then you will need to have the first two payments (April/May) paid before May 31st, 2009 in order to have a drill spot.
  • If you make your April/May payments after May 31, 2009 your child can still sign up as an alternate but the $650.00 is still expected to be paid before we leave for band camp.
  • All payments need to paid no later than the June payment date. Failure to be paid in full prior to band camp may result in your child missing band camp and losing their drill spot to an alternate.

A bulletin board has been created in the band room that looks like a football field.  Each student has a sticky with their name on it.  As past dues and current payments are made, then the students name will move from the side lines to the football field which means they have earned a drill spot for 2009.
